Overall I am pleased with how the Promotional video turned out, however if I were to do this project again I would like to incorporate more shots of people actually fishing. When I went for my first shoot, there were quite a few fishermen around, however most of them were participating in a competition and were reluctant to get involved with the filming process. I eventually got one person to agree to be filmed, and on my second shoot another man was willing to get involved. I would have also liked to get a shot of the construction team out on a job, however this was difficult to get the time for and I felt it was not very important for the video. I would have also liked to get some testimonials from customers, however due to them being busy or not wanting to be shown in the video this was next to impossible. I would also add other shots of people doing things besides fishing or building, perhaps riding horses, or someone cooking in the batch bar, someone receiving their food, and potentially people performing various tasks around the fishery. I was unable to film some of these things partly because of reluctance of customers, partly due to lack of extensive, professional planning, as I was never explicitly told what to do, and was just given a loose guide as to what my client was looking for, rather than strict goals that they wanted to achieve from the video. Another reason I was restricted was that my client had actually broken her ankle on the day that I was filming, so had to go to hospital so my filming time on that day was greatly restricted, and on the second shoot the weather was unforgiving later into the day, so I was restricted to this limited footage from the two days. Fortunately, I believe I was able to make the best of what I had, and I am proud of what I accomplished with little direction from the client and have created what I believe to be a successful final piece.
My client is also pleased with the finished piece, as the video has already brought in new customers, so hopefully their business will grow even more, since before the only advertising they had was word of mouth or their website, so I am pleased that my work has opened new horizons for the business and hope that my work has this (or greater) success in future. However, I am happy with the shot types used, and I think the 360/180 degree shots are well done and give a good taste of what is to offer at the fishery. I'm also pleased with the editing, and I believed I edited well to the music, with dissolves between transitions from fishing to the cafe and to wildlife, etcetera.
I also made sure to follow health and safety guidelines that have been put in place, and I made sure that whilst filming my actions would not harm myself, any clients or customers and any wildlife, but also not to damage anything on the land or any equipment. To do so I would make sure not to get too close to the pools and would make sure my equipment was set up out if peoples way, and made sure there was nothing potentially harmful in what I was doing.
